Abstract
Primo's FRBR groups are generally a big win for usability and discovery. But FRBR results can be problematic for musical materials such as scores and recordings -- and students and faculty in our Conservatory of Music have not been shy about saying so. Hear how we analyzed the problem, arrived at selective deFRBRization as the solution, and then planned, tested, and implemented it in production. (Changes to OTB normalization rules will be covered in detail.) Hear also how the project uncovered a few hidden metadata problems and helped us justify some much-needed database maintenance.
