Abstract

Christine Moulen, Library Systems Manager, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Rich Wenger, Systems Programmer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Melissa Feiden, Library Storage Annex Supervisor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In the fall of 2008, the MIT Libraries rolled out a service whereby our users can request scanned PDF images of article-length content from our on-campus and remote storage locations. Requests are initiated through the items page of the Aleph OPAC. The new Request PDF button is an SFX link which takes users to either full text online or the ILLiad request tracking system, which can deliver the scanned PDF. We will discuss the planning, implementation, and some of the results of adding this new service. If we get there in time, we may be able to include PDS authentication as well.
