Abstract

Nancy Chaffin Hunter, Metadata Librarian, Colorado State University; Patricia Rettig, Head Archivist, Colorado State University; Shu Liu, Digital Content Librarian, Colorado State University. Colorado State University Libraries has engaged in digitization projects for a number of years. The metadata for each project was designed by the project team, loosely based on Dublin Core, but varied widely from project to project. In 2007, CSUL acquired DigiTool for our Institutional Repository. The Metadata Best Practices Task Force was created and charged with developing a core set of metadata to be used for all digital projects and the IR. This case study will present the process used to create the core and how it has been implemented at CSUL.
