Abstract

Outer joins are a technique for dealing with inconsistencies in your data when you write queries. What if some items aren’t barcoded? What if some bibs aren’t indexed by title? What if some items are in temporary locations? Outer joins can also improve your statistics by making sure that odd cases aren’t dropped. In this session, we’ll look at lots of queries that make use of outer joins and see how helpful they can be.
