Abstract

Fall 2009, the University of Richmond Libraries implemented a new recognition/reward -- the Book Dedication Award -- for graduating seniors that etches value of students’ employment as a lasting memory or legacy. The award and management approach processes, the unique materials selected by graduating seniors will be described as the award is now a permanent feature in the budget line of the Boatwright Library. Letters of award is signed individually by the University Librarian to each student's parent or guardian. The materials are cataloged; with student’s name on book plates. The books are displayed after the ceremony and during university activities. While the book serves as lasting legacy, Voyager can also add to this legacy by making notes on record fields – 500 or 948. The notes can then display in the OPAC when patrons search for the books.
