Abstract
This presentation will discuss McGill Library’s attempt to apply current web standards to the ALEPH Web OPAC (Frameless version only). Improved support for web standards allows designers to take full advantage of the semantic and structural properties of HTML/XHTML and the presentation and
layout properties of Cascading Style Sheets. The Accessibility of the OPAC web interface can be improved by observing the Web Accessibility Initiative Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WAI-WCAG 1.0) established by the W3C. Efforts made in this regard result in a more stable, accessible, and interoperable web interface.
