Abstract
Oregon State University went live with the Primo new UI in August 2017. University of Washington Libraries went live with the Primo new UI in September 2017. The librarians and staff working on the migration process were anticipating a positive reaction as the benefits of the New UI are many. However, we were surprised to encounter some high amounts of user frustration. In this presentation both libraries will share a holistic overview of this project and lessons we learned from the process.
We plan on covering the following topics in our presentation:
reasons we went live with the new UI
strategies for rolling out the new UI, including communications to users
configuration/customization decisions
issues/problems we have experienced
how we handled user issues and critical feedback, and how we repaired our relationships with our communities
enhancements/future plans for the new UI
The migration taught us many lessons that we’d like to share with the Primo community. This presentation will allow us to share our experiences with you but also give you an opportunity to ask questions about our experience.
