Abstract
When preparing to migrate to Alma it can be a struggle to know which data cleanup tasks really matter and what their impact will be in Alma. Ex Libris's "Appendix B - Optional Data Preparations" is a good starting point, but without experience on Alma it is challenging to prioritize this list and to know what the outcome will be if you don't perform some of the data cleanup recommendations.
In our pre-implementation phase we made many decisions about what data to clean up before migration and what to leave as-is. Now that we are on Alma we are able to evaluate and share the impact of those decisions.
To be covered:
What we cleaned up before migration and why
What we did not clean up and now wish we had
Which of these cleanup tasks really matter once you are on Alma
What’s easier to clean up in Alma than Voyager & what's easier to clean up in Voyager than Alma
Practical tips and tricks to help with cleanup pre- and post-migration
We’ll talk through the recommended cleanup tasks from Ex Libris "Appendix B - Optional Data Preparations" as well as recommendations received from other sources.
We migrated from Voyager, but this information may also be applicable to customers migrating from other systems.
