Abstract
The resource type is used within Primo to aid searching in three ways that are readily apparent ways and in one way that is less obvious. The three highly visible uses of type are as: (1) a search pre-filter; (2) a resource facet; and (3) a display type. The not-so-obvious use of type is as part of the search string itself. This presentation looks at the relationships of these values, how they are mapped to the PNX record, and how the related normalization rules may be customized.
