Abstract
This session will explore the role of standards, discuss the meaning and use of statistical data, demonstrate the typical workflow processes involved in creating and maintaining a statistical data repository, and demonstrate a new tool to improve reporting capabilities. Issues to be discussed include overlapping data from federated search and open URL linking tools, the impact of new meta-indexes, options within the Ex Libris product for getting and maintaining statistics, and the challenges of making meaning of statistical information. Attendees will be able to:
* Identify common data elements for inclusion in a statistics repository
* Recognize different approaches and challenges to aggregation and reporting of vendor statistics
* Understand limitations and uses for statistics
* Develop awareness of standards and status of standardization efforts
