Abstract
An analysis of MetaLib search query statistics provides insight into user needs and search behavior. This study will evaluate over six months of MetaLib use data from Georgia Institute of Technology. A variety of search queries and features will be assessed to determine user preferences and practices. The relative effectiveness of the search queries will be analyzed and the results will be used to guide improvements in interface development and user instruction for information retrieval. The MetaLib results will be compared to native database usage data to investigate possible correlations.
